Start by ensuring that you and your guests always remove your shoes before stepping foot on your area rug. This will help guarantee that dirt and other debris don't end up on the rug. Dirt particles can damage rug fibers.

For most of our area rugs, a daily to weekly vacuuming will keep them looking their best. If your rug is in an area with light to medium traffic, a twice-weekly vacuuming may suffice. Essentially, the more foot traffic on the area rug, the more you'll need to vacuum. 

You may also want to consider placing carpet protectors under furniture legs, reducing the area rug’s exposure to direct sunlight, and limiting the amount of furniture that you move around on your area rug.

Stains happen! Even the most careful and cautious of area rug owners will fall victim to the occasional spill. This is especially true if you have children or pets. Fortunately, there are many ways to remove spills and stains from area rugs. 

The first thing to remember when you have a stain or a spill is to remain calm. Whether it's wine, water, soda, or something more severe, there is always a way to get it out, or at least to minimize the damage.

While treatment for stains can vary, we recommend blotting out the stain with a wet cloth and then consulting the manufacturer's guide for an approved cleaning product.
